- This week in Ottery St Mary ART SHOW Otter Vale Art Society's Annual Exhibition at the Institute Yonder Street from the 5th August to the 14th August from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Entrance £1.00 closes at 1.00pm on the 14th August. This exhibition is well worth a visit see all the work of local artists I am going and will be taking some photographs.
- Hind Street closes for Sainsbury preperation: Between Saturday 30 July and Monday 8 August Hind Street in Ottery will be closed to through traffic. This will enable Sainsbury’s and contractors working for water and electricity companies to make essential improvements to Ottery’s sewage and electricity infrastructure, as well as undertake works related to the new store. The town’s shops will remain open as usual, so please continue to support your local independent traders. However, access to the petrol station and Hind Street car park will be restricted at times. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this work and thank you for your co-operation and patience. Getting about: Mill Street will become two-way to enable people to drive through the town. Hind Street will be closed to through traffic. Access along it will be restricted and switch between Canaan Way or via Broad Street depending on the location of the works. When the works allow, Hind Street will become two-way in order to facilitate access to the petrol station and the Hind Street car park. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times. Alternative parking can be found on land adjacent to the Tumbling Weir Hotel and at Land of Canaan Way. Access to the land adjacent to the Tumbling Weir Hotel is narrow and drivers are asked to take care. Hours of work – in order to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, the teams will be on site and working from 7.30am into the evening each day.

- Thursday 21st April was another glorious day was out for Phyllis with her camera as she went down Mill Street. It was busy, and lovely seeing the bunting and flags on John Williams Shop - this adds sunshine to the town. Many years ago there was bunting in the square and around the town. Locals and holiday makers loved it so Phyllis encourages us all to put more flags out and fly flags for Ottery St Mary - the friendliest town in Devon.
- A new restaurant opening in town: The Normandy House. Good luck and best wishes to Karen, James, Robyn and Nick from us all here at the local Information Centre.
- Good news for Ottery St Mary as there is now 2 hours free car parking in Hind Street, so come along and see the shops and explore our lovely town - take a walk along the river - visit the Parish Church - call in at the Information Centre and collect a Heritage Leaflet that will take you around the town for about an hour.
- Visitors exploring Ottery from Australia, Germany, and from Spain this month. The Royal Wedding Street Party in Slade Close took place on a lovely sunny afternoon.
- Ottery St Mary Parish Church May Fair Saturday 28th May at Cadhay House open from 11.00am with lots going on for all the family - many stalls and side shows Ottery Town Band playing - Archery -The Taiko Drummers - Barbecue & Devon Cream Teas. Delicious. Good news a free coach at 11.00am from Down's Motors out to Cadhay House. Adults £2 Children free and free car parking. Not to be missed and I will take lots of photos to go on this website so come along you might be in one of them. See you there.
